North Coast

Although summer is ending and the weather is getting cooler, music festival season isn’t over yet!
This weekend North Coast Music Festival is taking over Union Park. Starting Friday afternoon and continuing through the weekend to Sunday night artists of all genres will be performingfor a near sold-out event.

The first annual festival kicks off Friday at 4:30 pm with Chicago-grown down-tempo, disco house, soul trio Orchard Lounge. At Summer Camp they rocked a late-night crowd for over an hour in the vibe tent and I’m pretty anxious to see their set at North Coast. At 5:30 one of the longest standing DJs in the game, Paul Van Dyk steps on stage for an hour. PVD is well-known for producing trance mixes, although he no longer describes his music as trance, and has been producing dance tracks for over 10 years. To keep the electronic dance flow moving Pretty Lights will perform in what will most definitely be an amazing show. To close out the first night The Chemical Brothers headline and are set to perform for and hour and a half.
The line-up escalates on Saturday with dubstep master Benga, Future Rock, old school’s De La Soul, Family Groove Company, Umphrey’s McGee and a dj set from Moby.
Finally, the last day closes out the festival with The Coop, Skeet Skeet, Benny Benassi, Chicago’s The Right Now<<these guys are nice with the brass instruments, Mayer Hawthorne, and Lupe Fiasco. Nas and Damien Marley headline at the same time as The Disco Biscuits.

There’s a ton more artists than mentioned above and even though the 3-day passes are sold-out you can still grab some 1-day tickets for only $40 a day.

Not to mention each night there will be after-parties with even more artists. North Coast is a great way to put an end to a music-filled summer here in the Chi. If you have the time, make your way over.

Union Park is located at 1501 W. Randolph St.
